Forward Oliver Moore became the latest young NHL player to agree to a long-term deal, signing a five-year, $21.25 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
Moore, 21, will play the final season of his three-year, $2.85 million entry-level pact this season, with the new deal taking effect in the 2027-28 campaign.
He is getting a pay bump from a $950,000 average annual value to $4.25 million. He would have been a restricted free agent after the end of the upcoming season without the new contract.
The Blackhawks selected Moore with the 19th overall pick of the 2023 NHL Draft following his sophomore season at Minnesota. He made his NHL debut on March 30, 2025, and appeared in nine games that season, registering four assists.
He scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 9, 2025, tallying five on the season. He added 14 assists for 19 total points in 51 games.
In July, the Blackhawks secured the centerpiece of their rebuild, signing star forward Connor Bedard to a five-year, $75 million contract extension.
The Blackhawks open the regular season on Tuesday at the Vegas Golden Knights.
